Cancun, Mexico

It was a sunny Friday morning in August when I boarded my two-hour Delta flight to Cancun for my beloved sister’s wedding. By coincidence (and honestly, by divine alignment), my sister and her now-husband were seated in first class after connecting from Los Angeles, where they live. Somewhere between takeoff and cruising altitude, a glass of bubbles made its way back to me, sent lovingly from first class - and I settled in, rewatching a childhood favorite, The Parent Trap. It felt like the perfect beginning: celebratory, nostalgic, and soft.

AVA Resort Cancun

Once we landed in Cancun, we headed straight to Ava Resort Cancun, a five-star, all-inclusive hotel just about ten minutes from the airport.

I checked into an ocean-view king room that was everything I didn’t know I needed. Spacious. Beautiful. Calm. It was the kind of room that felt made for a solo traveler who was kid-free for a few days and fully committed to rest. Ocean views stretched endlessly in front of me, and before long, I fell in love with the constant knocks at my door, room service arriving with breakfast spreads, light lunches, late-night snacks, and drinks. I ordered everything. And I enjoyed all of it, unapologetically.

Day 2

The second day set the tone. I slipped into a beautiful, sexy black dress for our welcome dinner at the hotel.

The night flowed effortlessly with unlimited margaritas, champagne, laughter, and the joy of being surrounded by family and friends. Cousins, aunties, longtime connections, all together in one place. We took photos that night, the kind you already know will age well. I later edited them in black and white because they felt classic, timeless, and full of memory. These are the moments I’ll always cherish.

Day 3

The following day was poolside perfection. Not the beach, the pool. Bright blue skies, shimmering water, elegant lounge chairs, and the kind of scenery that makes you slow down without trying. I wore a sexy two-piece Mexico swimsuit, sipped margaritas, and let the day unfold naturally.

Later, I returned to my room, sank into the hot tub, and opened The Mastery of Love while alternating between wine and margaritas. It was such a vibe, quiet, reflective, indulgent. I took a few photos because, honestly, I felt the sexiest I’ve ever felt in my life, and I wanted to capture that moment: me, confident, glowing, overlooking the ocean.

This trip was so much more than a destination wedding weekend. It was space. It was self-care. It was me enjoying my own company, my body, my rest, and my joy. A reminder that slowing down is productive, pleasure is allowed, and solitude can be deeply fulfilling.

Day 3

The next morning, I wore a beautiful green dress and started the morning with coffee and conversation alongside my friend Tikeila and her daughter, Tanner. We wandered, took in the views, and allowed the day to feel light and intentional.

Nightcap at Dez

Later that evening, we ended up at Des, a club on the resort within walking distance. The music was good, the energy was high, and the all-inclusive drinks flowed all night. It was one of those nights that didn’t need a plan, just good people and good energy.
