My Super Late 32nd Birthday Blog

December 22, 2022

I really enjoy the Clermont Hotel, which is one of my favorite landmarks in Atlanta. Its strong midcentury modern atmosphere is something I appreciate. While I have visited the hotel multiple times, my most recent stay was particularly memorable.

I was greeted by the staff who warmly wished me a happy birthday and offered me a glass of champagne upon my arrival. It was the ideal start to my birthday eve.

I frequently revisit this timeless hotel for its stunning aesthetics. I admire the meticulous attention to detail, the blend of various patterns and textiles, and the vibrant hues of the rooms.

This particular hotel is popular because it houses the oldest strip club in Atlanta. The Clermont Lounge opened in 1955 as an upscale supper club and is Located in the basement of the hotel. It was reopened in 1965 and is now completely female-owned.

I’ve never been, but I heard it’s a wild show.

Cafe Intermezzo

I celebrated my birthday brunch at Cafe Intermezzo, one of my all-time favorite coffee shops. This charming cafe perfectly captures the ambiance of a traditional 300-year-old European coffeehouse. Whether it's breakfast, lunch, or dinner, or just a late-night snack with a cappuccino or cocktail, this cafe is the ideal spot to indulge.

Special shout-out to my cousin, Victoria, and friends Pauleka and Serenity for celebrating with me. It’s always juicy conversation and laughs with these ladies.

And they showed up looking fabulous.

Vibes

Back to the room for some celebratory champagne and a thoughtfully curated music playlist.

I absolutely love this dress from SKIMS - it’s one of my ‘old faithfuls’ that I never get tired of wearing.

Victoria and Ronielle, my friends from Birmingham, AL, arrived just in time for dinner. They greeted me with roses and champagne at the door.

Welcome to Tiny Lou’s

Tiny Lou’s is a chic French-American brasserie located downstairs at Hotel Clermont.

We enjoyed a luxurious dinner of steak and champagne. As a delightful surprise, our gracious hosts presented me with a handwritten birthday card signed by the entire team. Their thoughtful gesture made me feel truly valued and appreciated.

The High Museum

The High is the largest museum for visual art in the Southeastern United States. It’s located in Midtown on Peachtree Street - the city’s art district. It’s also a division of the Woodruff Arts Center. The High organizes and presents exhibitions of international and national significance alongside its comprehensive collection of more than 18,000 works of art.

We were fortunate enough to catch Deana Lawson’s exhibition, which was available from October to February of early this year.

Working primarily in photography, Lawson explores representations of Black identities and bodies. The artist describes her work as “a mirror of everyday life, but also a protection of what I want to happen. It’s about setting a different standard of values and saying that everyday Black lives, everyday experiences. are beautiful, powerful, and intelligent.”

Lunch at Dirty Rascal’s

Classic Italian-American cuisine from James Beard nominated Chef Todd Ginsberg located inside of the Thompson Hotel.

Spaghetti Alla Pomodoro and Expresso Martini

Had an amazing time celebrating my birthday with my girls at Dirty Rascal's! The service, food, and drinks were all top-notch. And to make the day even more special, the manager brought out complimentary drinks and dessert for the occasion. It was such a sweet surprise and made the day even more memorable. If you're ever in the Buckhead area, I highly recommend checking out this adorable Italian restaurant.

Here's to another year of successful birthdays!
