New York has always been my playground. It’s my favorite city in the world. I love it because it’s a melting pot of many cultures. There’s so much delicious food to try. The city also has one of the world’s largest art communities. There’s a ton of popular restaurants, events, and neighborhoods to explore. It’s also the birthplace of Hip Hop. You’re truly missing out if you haven’t been.
I loved living in Brooklyn in my 20’s. Those were some of the best years of my life. You will truly find out about yourself in a tough place like New York. I experienced some of my hardest days there, but I’ll never take them back. New York is always in my heart and on my mind.
I tell tourists that a train ride on the subway is the best way to see New York. There’s a magnetic energy on those trains that inspire you to be present. Also, to pay attention.
I traveled to New York multiple times over the summer for self-care, to reconnect with friends, and to celebrate my best friend Kaiya’s 30th birthday. I also squeezed in a delicious Ethiopian lunch with well known photographer and my mentor Jon Henry. I felt so inspired after having conversations with my friends about progressional and art. I swear I received everything I didn’t know I needed during my visit.
Of course, I took a lot of photos. I believe it’s important to document my youth. It’s proof that I had these experiences and I’ll be able to share them with my grandchildren one day.
Please allow my images to inspire you. I covered a lot of ground during my visits.
I hope you can keep up.
