12 years later…
It felt so good to be back in LA. I remember going there for the first time while in middle school. My mom wanted me to see something new and she planned this big trip. I was 12 years old on Rodeo Drive, staying at a hotel near Beverly Hills, chilling at Venice Beach, and walking around Hollywood. I did all the touristy things.
Six years later, we went back. That trip was short though. We basically had a full day to spare before leaving on our cruise to Mexico. We only visited Santa Monica. I didn’t really get a chance to explore LA at 18 which detached me from the city.
However, I didn’t know what I was missing until two weeks ago. I returned to LA excited for a new experience. There’s nothing like visiting a place as a child and experiencing it as an adult. Two different things.
I landed early at LAX on March, 4th. Caught a Lyft to Roscoe’s Chicken and Waffles for breakfast. The smell of fried chicken dominated the air as I entered the historically famous restaurant. The people were so vibrant on a Wednesday morning. It was lit. I ordered all the vegetarian options, which were well seasoned cheese eggs and potatoes.
After breakfast, I made my way through Inglewood to Hilltop Cafe. This black owned cafe was two stories, bright, had vegan/vegetarian options, and played classic neo-soul music. It was a whole vibe.
This was just the beginning of my amazing experience. From eating the best Mexican food, spending a day at Venice Beach with Megan, and linking up with my friends, I tried to capture as much of my trip through photography as I could. Each photo tells a story and you’ll be glad you came after viewing.
Soooo enjoy and feel free to share my journey with your friends.
